Real Estate Courses and Programs
Hofstra Law offers a wide variety of real estate courses for students, beginning with the introductory Property course, which is required in the first year. As an initiative of the Breslin Center, we are building on the existing curriculum to add innovative courses that will address current real estate challenges and equip our students with the skills they will need to meet those challenges.
Real Estate Externships
The Externship Program offers students the opportunity to gain experience in real estate under the direct supervision of experienced practitioners. Students work 12-15 hours per week alongside attorneys in law firms, nonprofit organizations and government agencies and attend a companion seminar which focuses on a range of professional lawyering skills. The externship program is a critical component of the experiential learning we offer through the Breslin Center.
“Thanks to my position with Neptune, I was able to expand my knowledge not only of the law behind transactional real estate but also of the aspects of how to operate a business. This was an unforgettable experience, and it is knowledge that I would not have been able to attain without the field placement experience.” -- Hofstra Law Student Barbara Blaszczyk 3L discusses her spring semester field placement with Neptune Associates Realty LLC
Real Estate Law Association
The Real Estate Law Association’s mission is to educate students on all aspects of real estate and property law. The organization helps students interested in real estate law to network with legal professionals in this field. The organization also provides networking opportunities for students who have similar interests.
